Basic Life Support
(BLS) Programs
The AHA’s BLS Provider Course reflects science and education from the Latest Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. It teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on high-quality CPR and team dynamics.
In the Instructor-led course, students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written exam. This course is offered in hybrid form also.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support
(ACLS) Programs
ACLS is an advanced, Instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communication, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented.
This course REQUIRES completion of pre-course work so students are encouraged to register far enough in advance to complete the precourse evaluation and review the videos. This course is offered in hybrid form also.
Pediatric Life Support
(PALS) Programs
The AHA’s PALS Course has been updated to reflect new science in the Latest AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC. This classroom, Instructor-led course uses a series of videos and simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation, and team dynamics. The goal of the PALS Course is to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children, resulting in improved outcomes.
This course REQUIRES completion of pre-course work so students are encouraged to register far enough in advance to complete the precourse evaluation and review the videos. This course is offered in hybrid form also.
First Aid
Programs
This program is designed for day care workers, work-place medical response teams, camp counselors and anyone who needs to provide first aid, CPR and use an AED in a non-healthcare environment.
The AHA's Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Course is offered in both classroom instructor-led or hybrid models. This course designed to prepare students to provide first aid, CPR, and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) use in a safe, timely, and effective manner. Upon successful completion of the course, including a first aid skills demonstration and a CPR and AED skills test, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course completion card, valid for two years.
Neonatal Advanced Life Support
Program
Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) expands the American Red Cross Resuscitation Suite, focusing specifically on newborn resuscitation. Developed by the Red Cross and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), the NALS program aims to provide neonatal resuscitation education for healthcare professionals attending a newborn's birth. Designed to provide course participants with the vital knowledge and skills needed to assess, recognize and care for newborns requiring resuscitation, this comprehensive program underscores the critical role of healthcare providers in ensuring optimal outcomes for newborns in multiple settings, both within and outside the hospital.
Advanced Stroke
Life Support
The ASLS Blended Learning Course will educate healthcare professionals to identify, evaluate, and manage patients with stroke. The ASLS Course was co-developed by the American Heart Association and The University of Miami’s Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education and is appropriate for all healthcare providers involved in the management of acute stroke patients.
